One of the best RaceKart Tracks I have been at was Benidorm in Spain, its an awesome fast beautiful track, just a couple of hundred meters away from the beautiful beach, and Bruck an der Leitha at the Austrian/Hungary border
I'm not sure I understand what you mean there but, even if the guy is blocking the inside and does a slow in fast out, you can also do that, and because you most likely will be on the outside while turning in you will also be at the racing line, while the guy blocking the inside needs to compromise his line, given that you use the normal race line, you likely will have more momentum out of the turn and you might accelerate by him on the coming straight.
What I would also recommend is not concentrating to hard on what your opponent do, focus on your own line and driving, when under pressure think only about the track and your line, to many people get to obsessed looking and focussing on there opponent all the time they forget there own driving, focus and concentrate mainly on yourself and the track - think you are alone on the track and see the other driver as just a part of the track.
That is deep psychology No seriously I found this tip helps alot its from the book Speed Secrets from Ross Bentley look it up its a great book, alot of Racing tips.
Well Villeneuve still trys his best to enter NASCAR since 2007. He has turned down an offer from DTM, Le Mans and Aussie V8 Series, which are all one of the highest levels of Motorsports. Coulthard also publicly mentioned he has interest and Salo but the problem is getting into NASCAR is harder then it looks. It doesnt matter what you have won before, Villeneuve has won Indycar, Indy 500, F1 WDC, second in Le Mans, but if you dont have experience in stockcar racing its hard to get a ride.
For drifting the best is front engine and rearwheel drive. When the engine is at the front, the weight is away from the rearwheels making them easier to lose grip and causing oversteer. And the rearwheel drive adds to making it easier of losing grip at the rearwheels which is what you want to make the rear slide. I have drifted alot in real life, and the easiest way to get into a slide and hold it I found in BMW's and Ford Granadas and other cars who have the engine at the front and rearwheel drive.
The easiest way to overtake someone that is always blocking the inside is position yourself on the outside, then braking early, and early back on the gas, as the other guy has to drive a early apex, you can drive a late apex and acclerate earlier then him out of the corner, placing yourself then on the inside on exit of the turn.
Villeneuve drives deep into the corner on the outside, loses a bit of ground then but by just staying there a bit MSC has to compromise his exit back off / get out of the gas because he cant use the whole width of the track:
You had to make the point while showing your a racist. I'm an Arab. I guess if the moron who was drifting was a Finn (and there are alot of Finns drifting on public roads) you would not have called all Finns suicidal morons.
From the beginning of this thread every single point you made was refuted as it was based on ignorance coupled with lack of knowledge. And now you say the problem was that Scott Speed was useless, and now it was Toro Rosso who publicly said he was not useless? LOL. I'm out of this ridiculous discussion.
Pizzonia knew what he was going to do in 2003 already in the summer of 2002 but did not talk about that (join Mclaren) because of "contractual agreements". Wurz had in his last year at Benetton already made clear he wanted to leave the Team and didnt felt beeing treated equal from Briatore. I have personally talked with Alex Wurz several times. His situation was also completely different from Bourdais now.
"The issue of beeing bad mouthed is unique to drivers who dont deserve to have a return"?? According to you? Who has the insight into whats going on in the inner workings of an F1 Team from the comfortable view of your couch?? If you really believe beeing bad mouthed is unique to situations where it is deserved - sorry but thats a pretty naive way of thinking.
Honesty? If companys bashing there former employees publicly would be allowed and the norm what you would get is not the slightest bit of honesty or truth but an unprofessionell and unjust mess. And not just in Motorsports but in every area of labor market.
The 50 years F1 past have shown if your getting thrown out of F1 in such a manner, your chances to make a comeback to F1 are incredibly slim. Who is going to care in 2010 for a driver that has not driven F1 for a year, was doing some other type of Racing if any racing at all somewhere else, most likely not at a top team in 2009 because remember he couldnt have made a good deal with anyone because he was waiting so long for a decision from Toro Rosso that all other good rides were gone, if such a team could have a new guy who is young and didnt have any off-year or uncertain situation like the guy above has.
Of course it could all turn out different with a lot of luck for the driver, but that still doesnt make Toro Rossos behaviour any better and shouldnt become the norm.
You misunderstood what I said, you go on about why Speed is not as good a driver as people think he is yada yada. Its not about that, its not about Liuzzi or Speed getting sacked, its about sacking them and painting a picture in public that they are completely incompetent. A professionel company says "We decided to end our partnership with ..., we wish him good luck and success in his future", Toro Rosso figuratively sayed "We sacked this driver, he is a complete piece of shit, we hate him and no team should ever hire him". There is a difference. And what they are doing now with Bourdais and Sato is to wait until the very very last moment to see who comes up with more money, and the other driver will be sacked with a very slim chance to find a car for 2009 not only in F1 but also in other Motorsport series, therefore risking his career path.
Its not that they sacked Liuzzi, its about HOW they did it! Making it look like Liuzzi and Speed are total irresponsible and impossible to work with. If a Team gets rid of drivers, thats fine, do it calmly and professionelly, dont destroy there reputation and future by going publicly talking them down. Most Teams decide on the next season in the middle of the summer, so that every one in the partnership can plan ahead, but now they wait to the very very last moment to decide, and that makes it as good as impossible for Sato and Bourdais to get other contracts done or plan ahead for 2009 in case one of them doesnt get the car. Its not fair, nor common or professionell letting them still hang in the air like that.
It seems like STR take a pleasure to destroy careers.Examples,Speed,Liuzzi soon Bourdais. What the hell is wrong with you Tost? Waiting for a spanking video featuring Tost and Mosley before making a decision. By the time they decide, the driver who doesnt get the car will have no where else to get a car in 2009.
The complete disregard this team has shown for drivers and their careers is completely unprofessional. I have lost all fondness and sympathy for this team and I sincerely hope they finish in last place for 2009.
I have yet to hear Dale Jr. ever making advertising for iRacing publicly. Same goes for when he played NR03 and even had his own Online League for years with other Cup drivers using NR03, he didnt so because I guess he was or is still under contract with EA Sports and there Games. He was on the cover for EA Sports games and recommends the games from them. But I think his EA Sports support is pure marketing, he spends hours every day in iRacing.
You ask why would any real driver spend hours in iRacing, maybe just ...to have fun? Why is Justin Wilson, AJ Allmendinger in iRacing. Why is Villeneuve in iRacing, organised races with rFactor in his own official forum, or played alot of GP2 back in the day, or Montoya commented that from all racing games he likes Grand Prix Legends best, even though he never driven the cars nor the tracks, because its fun to race and to compete and what we do on the computer is also Racing, the cars and tracks are virtual, but the Racing is real.
We chatted after the race over the microphone, I know his voice from TV, he is a well known user of the game.
Thanks mate . I added a picture to this post at the bottom
Martinsville might look easy from the outside but you really need to hit your marks exactly every lap, braking at the exactly right moment every 8 seconds for an hour, if you brake just a little bit to late or to little you slide out of the line, if you brake just a little bit to early the car behind you will crash you, then letting the car roll a split second at the centre, then back on the throttle while sawing wild precise the steering wheel to prevent spinning out but using all of the track at the same time without getting into the wall. It is a a constant ride on a razor blade. And with a Superstar driver right on your rear bumper for quite some time makes it all very exciting.
Dale Jr's statistics at iRacing makes him the 2nd best Oval Racer out of 6497 drivers. So he (of course) knows exactly how to be extremely fast, have the right strategy and save tyres in real and in the Sim, I really had to push alot to stay infront of him for the remaining 30 laps but I burned up my tyres to much trying to stay in the lead.
You know I would really wish there would be a proper Oval Track in LFS, because theres only one Oval track in LFS and it is such a dull Oval, it doesnt give one the slightest idea how difficult and challenging Oval Racing can be. And this gives a wrong impression imo. Hope Scawen will add other Ovals someday, I think this area is totally overlooked in this Sim.
I had one really fun race against Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Unfortunately you still cant save replays in iRacing that really pissed me off in that moment, so I took a normal camera and filmed the monitors and surprisingly it doesnt look THAT bad, okay it doesnt look great at all, but due to the bad quality it looks like a real race would look like on a bad TV, atleast to my eyes
I agree. And compare that incident with Scott Speed at that short track to Gilliland taking Montoya out at Texas last week were they go 200 MPH. Both things couldnt and shouldnt be in a court.
I agree. I think the iRacing tracks and there details make really alot of difference, and if you could drive LFS cars on iRacing tracks, I dont think the difference's of the two Sims would be far different in terms of driving feeling. I think the two Sims iRacing is most close to in terms of driving feeling is LFS and netkarPro, it's alot about the tracks that in my opinion make a big difference, and I hope the devs of LFS and netkarPro see this aswell and think about adding real tracks and maybe even with the same focus on track detail.
Which doesnt speak against pay content stuff at all. Yeah free stuff can sometimes be better then payed stuff, doesnt mean either one should not exist.
You do realise you have to pay for each car or track only once? With the iRacing credit for signing up for a year you can get most US major Race tracks and nearly all cars so far for no additional costs which you'll keep forever. And I like Oval and RC stuff. If your just into RC or just in Oval Racing, you can get nearly all cars from Legends cars to Sprint Cup car and alot of tracks for free if you sign up for a year. So the longtime costs are n't as much as they might appear if you take a closer look at it.
I think one of the problems for some people is that they are not used to Simulations having different prices. They think all Sims should come at the same price.
In my opinion, Live for Speed, netkarPro, etc. they are all FAR to cheap, and will not move forward significantly if not more money comes into play, these products are made for niche group of enthusiasts, not for the millions of people who like any type of Racing games, Sims are made for a small number of potential buyers, they cant be sold at the same price as an ego-shooter that sells million copies.
If LFS would have a more proper price structure, maybe also with monthly subscription of 4 - 8 $ per month, maybe the LFS Team could afford to hire more artists, could afford buying licenses for tracks and produce real tracks etc.
What I'm trying to say is if we believe our Sim Racing Genre can evolve and develop very fast without paying anything or only a little bit for it, we are on the wrong track, why should any developer invest in Sim Racing if the return will be very small, whereeas if a developer invest into normal Racing Games the return is far bigger.
For our Genre to be a healthy place for investors / developers to invest in the price for Sims must be fixed. The Sim Racing games Price's should not be like all other types of Games, the price of a Sims should reflect supply and demand, and the demand for serious Racing Simulation is very small compared to other Genre's, so the price MUST be higher to support this whole thing.
Some people seem kind of pissed off that after several years of stagnation in our genre something new comes out and its not on the same price level as normal video games. We have to realise in our genre products will never sell in the millions like Call of Duty or other games, while the investment costs can be the same.
What iRacing is doing and what I think LFS, netkarPro etc. should do aswell is trying to offer a premium product, that although costs more then normal video games but thats because its designed for a small group of potential buyers and offers superb quality.
Some people seems pissed off because of the price structure and think Racing Games should never cost that much but of course offer highest possible quality, continueing development, they want a premium product for a bargain price it's not going to happen. I also want a Porsche and cant afford one, but premium products should exist, and not all cars should cost the same, as some people seem to think all types of Games / Sims / Software must cost the same.
Compared to the Racing Simulation Genre, the Flight Simulation Genre has made huge leaps forward when they started offering planes, citys and airports for higher prices. Developers, Modders everybody was able to invest alot more into new stuff because there was return in it, they could afford to produce a big number of high quality content because people payed the price for that.
In iRacing with all Servers, continueing development with 40 employees, with laser scanned and high detailed cars and tracks and all that is part of there product costs 13$ a month and 15$ for cars and 20-25$ for tracks.
What are somre Flight Simulation Simmers ready to pay for high quality, although without continueing development, no laser scanned anything, often made by enthusiasts in there spare time?
Aerosoft - PMDG 747 Boeing = $60
Just Flights - 737 Boeing = $45
Wilco Pub - Airbus A380 v2 = $60
Just Flights - Airbus A340 = $55
Just Flights - Tiger Moth = $70
Aerosoft - Switzerland = $190
Mega Scenery - Southern California = $60
Aerosoft - West Germany = $80
Horizons - Southern England+South Wales = $60
In some Sim Racers eyes these prices are outrageous !
But its just the price for better quality and what let the Flight Simulation Genre flourish while the Sim Racing Genre stagnates since years with very few new products coming out, with some developers going into bankruptcy and others desperately starting to make half Sim - half Games. So if we really want Sim Racing to become better it's not going to come for free.
And I would be happy if Scawen rethinks his price structure and comes up with something new that also allows him to speed up development, hire some artists and buy licenses and produce real tracks for example. If we could have tracks like Spa etc. for LFS I think alot of people would be ready to pay for real tracks in LFS.
FIA and Bernie doesnt care about the fans, history, or the sport, it's all about money. If Canada/Montreal can pay as much as other countries they will get back on the calender. And maybe they shouldnt have pissed off Maxxx MoSSley http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/ ... dies-denounce-mosley.html
